Alan Syliboy was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia. Living in the Millbrook First Nations community, he journeys through his life with a demeanor of strength. Alan has built an ever growing list of accomplishments throughout his lifetime, although many people are most familiar with his beautiful and unique works of art that captivate and inspire us.

The members of the group are vocalist Hubert Francis star of Brookes Diamond production, “Drum” from Elsipogtog First Nation, Evan Syliboy formerly with Lonecloud and bassist/composer/sound designer & sound editor Lukas Pearce of Halifax NS and group leader, percussionist/storyteller Alan Syliboy. The show consists of songs, stories (narrative about The Thundermaker) accompanied by multi-media art film and live performance.

Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer Morgan Toney brings together the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the old songs of the Mi’kmaq with brilliance and heart. First Flight, Toney’s award nominated debut album, celebrates language and heritage in Toney’s transformation of traditional songs like the Ko’jua and the Mi’kmaq Honour Song alongside highly original songcraft.

This event is made possible with support from Arts Nova Scotia and the Acadia Performing Arts Series.
