Registration is FULL! Drum-making with Brian Knockwood

 —  —

Wolfville Recreation Centre, 7 Victoria Ave. , Wolfville

After the very successful session we hosted in October, Mi'kmaq drummer Brian Knockwood and his assistants return, to guide a new group through the process of stretching hide over a frame, and stringing a hand drum. This is an incredible opportunity to learn about Mi'kmaq culture and music-making practices, and make your own drum to take home. Materials are included, as well as a completed drum stick. For adults and youth ages 14 and up. Younger kids may participate, accompanied by an adult.

This event will be followed by a Drum-Painting Workshop with renowned artist and musician Alan Syliboy, on April 22. Participants are invited to register for both sessions at a reduced rate, and paint the drums you make, with Alan's magical artwork to inspire you.

These workshops will have very limited space, so please contact us right away to reserve a spot. We are offering several free places to youth, and members of Glooscap and Annapolis Valley First Nations.

The remaining spots are available at a cost of: $200 DRUM-MAKING - Includes materials and a drum you can keep $75 DRUM-PAINTING - Bring your own drum, painting materials provided OR $250 FOR BOTH WORKSHOPS. (*To receive the discount, please purchase the Drum Making registration and then email us to register for Drum Painting at info@musicincommunities.com. You can then pay the discounted rate $50 by e-transfer or other options.)
