ABOUT THE EVENTS
Creative Process Sessions take a unique approach teaching improvisation in a non-stylized way, with a focus on the fundamentals of creativity and craft. They offer a range of topics including meditation and mindfulness exercises, listening exercises, movement and body-awareness exercises, vocal-based group improvisations, embodied rhythmic practice, while also helping students navigate common performance issues such as facing fear, habitual patterns, and self-doubt. Creative Process Sessions are open to musicians and anyone interested in creative process and improvisation.
All experience levels welcome from beginner to professional. Workshops suitable for adults and youth ages 15+. Bring your instrument.
Concert: Faculty members of the Creative Music Workshop unite to compose an of-the-moment concert of spontaneous sound and movement. The band includes Ross Burns (guitar), Doug Cameron (drums), Susanne Chui (dance), Andrew MacKelvie (saxophone), and Nicholas MacLean (guitar). Each artist brings a wealth of individual experience, and together they have spent years studying, teaching and performing a unique approach to improvisation that centres listening, creativity and craft.
This project is supported by Arts Nova Scotia's Artists in Communities program.
